A graduate of the Composition and Theory of Music Department and the Vocal and Acting Department of the Music Academy in Gdańsk. Solo singing studied in the class of prof. Piotr Kusiewicz.
Winner of a special prize at the 3rd Ada Sari Vocal Competition in Nowy Sącz and the 3rd Prize and Prize of the Syndicate of French Theater Directors at the XXXVIII International Vocal Competition in Toulouse.
He works with many opera and music theaters, including Grand Theater - National Opera in Warsaw, Grand Theater in Poznań, Krakow Opera, Warsaw Chamber Opera, Baltic Opera in Gdańsk, Nova Opera in Bydgoszcz, and Wrocław Opera. He has in his repertoire parts in the works by Rossini (Almaviva, Don Ramiro), Mozart (Don Ottavio), Donizetti (Ernesto), Moniuszko (Damazy), Czajkowski (Lenski), Verdi (Casio, Alfredo), Wagner (Steuermann), Berg (Andres), Straussa (Narraboth, Tanzmeister) , Britten, Szymanowski (Shepherd), Strauss (Eisenstein, Gershwin, Bernstein (Tony).
He took part in many music festivals, among others Wratislavia Cantans, Warsaw Autumn, Prague Spring, BBS Proms, Salzburgerfestspiele, Mezzo Television Opera Festival, Festival de Musica de Canarias in Las Palmas, Tallinn, Moscow, Paris, gave concerts in such halls as the Royal Albert Hall in London , Théâtre des Champs-Elysées and Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, Felsenreitschule in Salzburg, Konzerthaus in Vienna, Berlin Philharmonic, Philharmonic in Prague, Philharmonic in Bratislava, Festival Hall in Osaka, NHK Hall in Tokyo, Grand Theater in Moscow, National Philharmonic in Warsaw, he performed under such conductors as Menuhin, Rattle, Dutoit, Janowski, Gergiev, Penderecki, Krenz, Wit, Kord, Kaspszyk.
Has made many radio and CD recordings, including for the EMI label, recording of the Shepherd's part in Szymanowski's opera King Roger.
Ryszard Minkiewicz is a professor of musical arts at the Music Academy in Gdańsk.
