Urszula Kryger

She is a graduate of two faculties of the Academy of Music in Łódź: in the piano class (1988) and vocal in the class of Jadwiga Pietraszkiewicz (1992). She continued her vocal studies under Andrzej Orłowicz in Copenhagen.
She has participated in many international music competitions receiving high prizes. Her greatest successes include wins in the 1st Stanislaw Moniuszko International Competition in Warsaw (1992), VI Brahms International Vocal Competition in Hamburg (1994) and the 43rd ARD International Music Competition in Munich (1994). Since then, her career has been accompanied by the unwavering interest of music lovers and critics.
In 1995 she performed at La Scala with a recital of Fryderyk Chopin's songs. A year later she made her debut with great success on the Semper Oper stage in Dresden in the opera Cinderella by G. Rossini in the part of Angelina. Polish audiences and many countries of the world often have the opportunity to admire her creations in oratorio works performed under the baton of such great maestros as Jan Krenz, Jerzy Semkow, Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos, Sir Colin Davis, Armin Jordan.
He pays special attention to chamber music, her art of song interpretation combines perfection with extraordinary naturalness. It is appreciated by the accompanying musicians, among which there are outstanding pianists such as Hartmut Höll, Charles Spencer, Melvyn Tan and Pascal Rogé, clarinetist Paul Meyer, chamber ensembles Tokyo String Quartet, Petersen Quartet.
Urszula Kryger has made many recordings for radio and record broadcasters in Poland, France, Germany and Switzerland. Her discography includes recordings for the Decca (Polish Songs by Poulenc) and Hyperion (Songs by Chopin), for the German CPO (Ballade by Löwe), Polish DUX (Russian Duets, Songs by Moniuszko and Songs by Karłowicz, Szymanowski and by Żeleński).
In January 2006 she was awarded the prize of the Szymanowski Foundation for thoughtful and highly artistic interpretations of the song of the composer.
Urszula Kryger is also a vocal teacher. He runs numerous master classes. For over 10 years he has been a professor at the Academy of Music in Łódź.
